Otis gen2 being pulled from the side

After going to Kingston to ride Optare the bus but it went out of service and didn't come back as it had a fault. This is a one off siemens hybrid optare prototype. It's numberplate is OP07ARE (aka Optare the bus). After watching it drive past I go and ride the lift in Rotunda. This lift is an Otis 2000H modernized into a gen2. What is weird about this lift is that it is pulled from the side. The original Otis 2000H is a bog standard roped hydraulic and is pulled from the side. After the mod the lift car wasn't changed at all apart from having a 2:1 pulley wheel added. The pulley wheel is attached top where the cables of the roped hydraulic were attached. It is very odd seeing the Otis gen2 2:1 belt cables all being on the right hand side of the lift. Also the lift car is designed for 2/3 m/s. It could not cope with going 1 m/s. I think they sped it up very slightly to about 0.75 m/s.
