Mackerel fishing from the shore : North East Scotland : Aberdeenshire

A 04:00 am start for my first Mackerel session up here on the North East coast of Scotland. I believe Mackerel have been caught from the shore over the last couple of weeks and I thought half a dozen or so would be nice for tea, freezer and possibly bait. Little did I realise they’d be just so hard to locate and get ashore. Unfortunately a seal (or two) decided to get in on the act - mugging fish as they were brought in. My speedy reeling was no match for the seals agility and I called it a day as the seal showed no signs of catching its own Mackerel. Hopefully I’ll get a weather window and have the kayak out again soon. I’m not keen on returning to this venue as there’s so much fishing related garbage strewn on the rocks. I know I’m leaning on an open door with the channel viewers when I say this is just bad form.
