GoTenna Mesh range testing using a Drone as a Relay Node

I this video I connect a GoTenna Mesh text and location communicator set to Relay Mode to the bottom of a Yuneec Typhoon H Drone to see what range distance I can get from it as a Node Relay. Special thanks to drone operator, Aaron, from NorthTacoma.Net and Uncle Dan for their assistance in making this video. This video is a part of my full GoTenna Mesh review. It’s not the most scientific test, but it was fun to do and I’m sure it will be a good conversation starter with the HAM folks out there. Ideally, I should have hung the GoTenna Mesh from the drone using a string to get it farther away from the drone signals. This testing was done during light sprinkling in a neighborhood setting. I know that humidity (which can reflect the signal) and foliage probably altered the test results (as seen with Emcomm) from an ideal scenario, but hopefully this data provides a real world data set to keep in mind. Regardless, it was fun to make!
