Chery was the first Chinese brand to enter Argentina. It did so in mid-2008 with a single product that remains on sale today: the Tiggo. Few will remember that those Tiggos were assembled in Uruguay, mostly with Chinese parts, in a plant that the Socma group later closed. It also marked the return to the industry for the group and Franco Macri, following their sale of SEVEL to FIAT and Peugeot, respectively.
