Charleville, an historic outback town, rich in heritage, aviation, and Cobb & Co coach history

Charleville, located in Queensland’s outback, developed from the 1860s–1870s with the expansion of pastoral stations and Cobb & Co coach routes. By the 1880s, the town had grown into a regional hub, later supported by the arrival of the railway in 1888. The Charleville Historic House & Museum, originally the town’s first bank built in 1888, preserves a wide collection of artifacts from Charleville’s past. A walk around the quiet streets, between Christmas and New Year, The Corones Hotel (opened 1924) and the School of Arts (opened 1888) remain key heritage buildings. Summer temperatures regularly exceed 40°C, with heatwaves above 45°C, a harsh climate that has shaped daily life in the outback. I enjoy the heat and walk about town. https://www.outbackqueensland.com.au/... https://www.experiencecharleville.com... Out and about with me as I share my exploring and discovery of new places.
