Rawlya Jawlya Forts Trek

The twin forts of Rawlya-Jawlya are located in the Saatmaal mountain range near Nashik . This mountain range has close to about 15/16 mountain forts; most of which have seen enough history right since 11th/12th century. These forts do find mention even in various Maratha history documents. One of the historically important battles between king Shivaji and Mughals (General Daoodkhan was the Mughal army cheif) took place near Kanchan fort of this mountain range. This happened on 16tth Oct 1670, while King Shivaji's army was returning form Surat. The Rawlya, Jawlya forts are situated on a huge plateau. Both the forts are difficult to climb for inexperienced trekkers. And Rawlya fort is much difficult and needs rock climbing skills at the final rock patch.
