Precision reloading tools #3: Giraud powered brass trimmer

The Giraud brass trimmer uses an adjustable V cutting blade to trim brass as well as chamfer inside and outside the case mouth. The Giraud trimmer can also be used to trim bullet meplats by using a separate tool and bullet holder. The Giraud trimmer can trim 100's of bullet meplats in a matter of seconds leaving you more time to be out at the range practicing and putting rounds down range. If you have more than one caliber you load for, it is probably best to buy separate cutting blades that are pre-set for each caliber. Since the cutting blades are adjustable, it will accommodate any caliber from .17 cal. to .50 caliber and everything in between. The shell holders for the Giraud trimmer are also removable, so one needs to be purchased for each cartridge that you load for. If you load in the same family of cartridges, such as the .308 family (.243 Winchester, .260 Remington, 7mm-08 Remington, etc), the same case holder can be used. The same goes for the 30-06 family of cartridges (.270 Winchester, .280 Remington, 25-06, 6.5-06, etc.) The reason one shell holder can be used for the entire family of cartridges, is that the shellholder headspaces on the case shoulder, so as long as the shoulder angle and diameter are the same, the shell holder will work. If you plan on doing that, make sure you buy the shell holder for the biggest neck diameter of them all to allow for plenty neck clearance. If you use the same case holder for different cartridges on the same family, make sure the trim lengths are correct and make adjustments if necessary to ensure a correct and safe trim length. Skips die shims are an easy way to compensate for differences in trim length between two cartridges.
