With a total circulation of over 15 million copies, Yuki Suetsugu's hugely popular manga "Chihayafuru" (serialized in Kodansha's "BE-LOVE") about competitive karuta has been adapted into a two-part live-action film starring Hirose Suzu. This time, a red carpet event was held at Kabukicho Central Road on April 20th to celebrate the release of the second part, "Chihayafuru: Part 2." This marked the fifth red carpet event to be held on this road in exactly one year since Central Road was renovated and renovated last April. With Nippon TV announcer Aoki Genta acting as MC, Hirose Suzu, Nomura Shuhei, Mackenyu, Kamishiraishi Mone, Yamoto Yuma, Morinaga Yuki, Matsuoka Mayu, and director Koizumi Norihiro, all clad in hakama, appeared on Central Road in two cars. As confetti flew around, they walked slowly down the approximately 50-meter red carpet for around 15 minutes, shaking hands, signing autographs, and taking photos with the 2,500 fans who had gathered. Hirose commented with a smile on her face, "So many people came together, and I can really feel that 'Chihayafuru' has reached them. I feel so happy, it's almost a shame for me." Finally, Director Koizumi took the microphone and said, "I made this film with the theme of bonds. The bonds between people can help overcome difficult situations, and this film depicts that kind of human strength. Many people all over Japan are going through difficult times right now, and I hope this film can give even a little bit of energy and courage to many people."
