In 1933, Adolf Hitler justified the destruction of the Communist Party of Germany (KPD) to Siemens workers with the words: "...but, my friend, I destroyed the others just the same." Why did he call a communist "my friend"? Because the roots of the Nazi Party (NSDAP) lay deep in socialism. In this video, we take an unflinching look at historical documents, diaries, and records that reveal an uncomfortable truth: National Socialism saw itself as a left-wing movement—as the "sibling" of communism. We trace the line from the founding days of the Nazi Party to the present-day Bundestag and pose the fundamental question: Who is truly acting fascistically in today's political landscape—and who is defending democracy?
