In Nantes, three young people have died from gunshot wounds in barely a month. Socialist mayor Johanna Rolland is expecting a "commensurate" response from the state, as concern is gradually spreading among the city's residents. On the Public Sénat television program, she noted the rise in crime and the ever-increasing drug trafficking. The Socialist Party's second-in-command illustrated the situation: "In recent years, the cocaine trade has doubled, and today it's almost 7 billion euros." Social media, particularly Snapchat, has "changed the nature of drug trafficking," Rolland explained. Rolland, who allied herself with La France Insoumise during the second round of the municipal elections, does not want to arm the municipal police, but she is unwavering in her commitment to security and video surveillance: "The police are equipped with Tasers." And regarding the cameras, when I was elected mayor, there were zero cameras in Nantes; now there are 500.” The Socialist Party’s first deputy national secretary then addressed the strategy of the non-Mélenchonist left for the presidential campaign. She called for unity: “The real question is whether all the others (except Mélenchon) decide to stay in their own lanes, and what will the end result be? We already know.
