Retroid Pocket 5 as a Home Media Console + Launcher Comparison

Hello everyone, in this video we will be testing using the Retroid Pocket 5 as an all-in-one home media console for not only gaming but for all of your entertainment needs! We will be seeing how it runs YouTube, Netflix, Twitch, home media like from a USB or SSD, as well as of course some gaming and how we can seamlessly switch between them. I am also showing some differences between some of the common launchers such as the included Retroid Launcher, the free alternative Daijisho, and the paid alternative ES-DE. There are other launchers available such as Beacon too which I haven’t checked out yet so there are lots of options! I really liked using both Daijisho and ES-DE. I think they’re both excellent. The Retroid Launcher on the other hand is really poor, in my opinion. It looks nice and I like that it’s built-in but it needs a lot of work. Customizing how you want to launch the games is a real headache, as is managing the game libraries. It has potential but it needs a lot of work still. The RP5 is certainly not the best device for this use-case - I’d recommend using an Android TV box, a TV with android built-in, or something like a Roku instead. But I’ve had a few requests for this video and thought it’d be interesting to try. It definitely can work and if Netflix is updated to support 4k on the RP5 I think it’ll be a much better proposition - especially as Netflix includes some great games with their subscription. This video probably won’t be as popular as my others as it’s not relevant to everybody but if it helped at least a few people then I’ll be glad I made it.
