Konjic is a town and a populated place in the extreme north of mountainous Herzegovina, in the central part of Bosnia and Herzegovina, in the valley on both sides of the Neretva River and around the mouth of the Neretva's tributary Trešanica. Konjic borders the municipalities: Prozor-Rama, Gornji Vakuf, Fojnica, Kreševo, Hadžići, Kalinovik, Trnovo, Nevesinje, Jablanica and Mostar. The city of Konjic occupies a territorial area of 1,386.6 km2 or 2.60% of the territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina, which is inhabited by about 25,000 inhabitants, settled in 175 villages and settlements, organized in 16 local communities. The area of the town of Konjica extends from 270 m above sea level (the level of Lake Jablanica) to 2,155 m (Mount Prenj). In the Konjic area, there are mountain massifs: Prenja, Visočice, Bjelašnice, Treskavice and Vranice, and a large part of this area is also encroached by the slopes of Crvnje. The area of the town of Konjica is decorated with many rivers and lakes, with the pearly beauty of the Neretva River and the marvelous Rakitnica Canyon, as well as Lake Borački and Lake Jablanica. Natural beauty, wealth of plant and animal life, and large forest and water potentials represent the basis for the development of wood processing, agriculture, animal husbandry, fruit growing, tourism and other branches.
