Why did Ghana's governments keep falling?

In sixteen years — from 1966 to 1981 — Ghana experienced five successful military coups. Five constitutions suspended. Five elected or appointed governments removed by force. This video is not a list of events. It is an explanation of conditions. We go back before independence to examine what Britain left behind — an economy built for extraction, a military trained for order, institutions designed for colonial control rather than self-governance. We follow those inherited structures through Nkrumah's ambitious and authoritarian republic, through the IMF austerity of Busia, through Acheampong's defiant populism and its collapse, through the junior officer fury of Rawlings — and we ask not just what happened but why the conditions kept producing the same result regardless of who was in power. The answer is not corruption. It is not tribalism. It is not something inherent to Ghana or to Africa.
