This vlog was filmed in late May 2026 during a journey along Jamaica’s south coast, six months after the unprecedented impact of Hurricane Melissa. Our goal was to respectfully document the storm’s aftermath—not to sensationalize the destruction, but to acknowledge the challenges faced by local communities while highlighting the remarkable resilience, warmth, and optimism of the Jamaican people. Throughout our travels in Parottee, Black River, Treasure Beach, Belmont, and other communities, we witnessed both the scars left by the hurricane and the determination of people rebuilding their homes, businesses, and lives. If you’re considering visiting Jamaica, we hope this video encourages you to do so. Tourism remains an important part of the island’s recovery, and the people of Jamaica continue to welcome visitors with the same generosity and spirit for which they are known.
