I'm Rusty and So Is My 65 Mustang: Fixing Front Frame Rail Rot, Part 1!
Video Chapters 00:00 Intro 03:30 Pressure Washing 05:45 Rot Check and Plan of Attack 11:00 Cleaning Metal and Making Template 23:00 Template Mockup 25:00 Welding You thought I was done with rust? Haha. Ha ha ha. One of the biggest reasons I actually decided to pull the engine was to access the front frame rails to finally fix some of the "last" sections of rot. But before I get started on that, an initial pressure wash was essential to marking off the celebratory point of no return! Once that was done, it's time to chop and weld- although I end up facing some uphill battles with my welder, regulator, and metal. Part 2 video coming soon- this one deals with the passenger side rail repair, which was a lot more severe, and fun!
