No matter what style you play, having a nice controlled vibrato is essential. It is how we give life to the notes. For a majority of players having issues developing a consistent vibrato technique, the reason is becasue they are attempting to use smaller muscle groups instead of larger muscle groups. I think you can see this in Erick demosntrations. I will demosntrate how the finger's job is to simply stay stable on the string, while the power behind the vibrato comes from the forearm by doing short rotations.
