Defensive Fire, Board-Up

Extended cut of a structure fire at a board-up last December. See arrival conditions, hear the initial assignments made and the radio traffic leading up to the decision to pull crews out and switch to defensive operations. At 0415 on December 26, 2025, AFR was dispatched to a reported structure fire at 328 Grove SE. Medic 5 arrived on scene within 3 minutes and confirmed a working fire with smoke and flames showing. Battalion 2 arrived and assumed command. Medic 5 went in for search. Engine 5 deployed an 1 3/4” handline for fire control and Ladder forced entry into the structure. Approximately 7 minutes after arrival, fire was showing through the roof and a decision was made to pull crews to a defensive position outside the structure. 2 Ladder pipes were placed into service and fire was declared under control at 0646. No injuries to civilians or firefighters were reported. #abqfirerescue
