Stop giving new enduro riders bad advice!︱Cross Training Enduro

The three worst riding tips you can give to new enduro riders! My evil twin brother in Canada, Dallas Shannon, has been coaching new riders for years and has to regularly undo the bad advice they've been given. If you want extreme enduro training see our playlists of enduro skills to learn. Try our training vids for working on your extreme enduro techniques. But for new riders, these sayings might be the fastest way to quit the sport entirely. Everyone who rides off-road has heard these phrases. If you are enduro riding get into our enduro training vids. And remember, if your experience the need to engage in whiskey throttle, you can obtain help at Dirt Riders Anonymous. Panic throttle rarely fixes a problem. Usually it multiplies it. Power only works when control exists first. Body position comes first. Our dirt riding tips are great for developing your hard enduro skills. Riders have been saying them for decades. Most experienced riders know what those sayings mean. New riders don’t. And that’s where the problems begin. Just twist it. When in doubt, throttle out. If you’re not crashing, you’re not trying. These sayings are part of off-road culture. But when those same phrases get handed to a new rider, they can be the fastest way to get someone hurt. Because those phrases are not instructional. They’re shorthand. And shorthand only works when both people already understand the language. New riders don’t. So today I want to talk about these three phrases and what we think they mean, and what beginners actually need to hear instead. Into enduro and dirt bikes? Check out our dirt bike videos. Extreme enduro training vids are our focus. Let’s start with the one you hear the most. Just twist it, man! They usually mean momentum. Sometimes you do need power. Deep sand. Mud. Hill climbs. Need hard enduro training? Balance comes second. And then a whole bunch of other things, before throttle ever gets involved. Because a motorcycle isn’t a bulldozer. You don’t solve every problem with horsepower. When in doubt, throttle out. Experienced riders sometimes use power to stabilize a motorbike. Work through our video lists. Hard enduro techniques are covered in our training vids. But beginners don’t yet have the foundation that makes that advice work. They don’t have body position yet. They don’t have clutch control. They don’t have refined throttle control. So when they hear the phrase “just twist it,” what often happens is panic throttle. My initial research on the 'internet web device' shows riders are not only taught how to whiskey throttle, but are encouraged to buy products that support this fun phenomenon.
