Demak - The perpetrator of the murder of a man in the bushes of Botorejo Village, Wonosalam District, Demak Regency, was arrested by the Demak Police Criminal Investigation Unit on Tuesday (October 25, 2022) evening at around 10:00 PM WIB. Demak Police Chief, AKBP Budi Adhy Buono, stated that the arrest was the result of cooperation between his unit and the Central Java Regional Police and the Jepara Police. "The arrest stemmed from information received by the Mlonggo Sector Police of the Jepara Police on Wednesday, October 26, 2022, regarding a public report claiming to have fled after committing a murder in Demak," said Demak Police Chief, AKBP Budi Adhy Buono, during a case presentation at Demak Police Headquarters on Friday (October 28). Based on this information, the Demak Police Mobile Brigade Unit, backed up by personnel from the Central Java Regional Police's Criminal Investigation Directorate, conducted a search of the suspect's hiding place, identified as S (28), a resident of Bedono Village, Sayung District, Demak Regency, Jepara. "After searching the suspected suspect's hiding place, the police successfully arrested him and took him to the Demak Police," he said. Budi explained that the incident began when four witnesses departed from Kudus for Semarang. Because they had paid half the fare, they were dropped off at the Botorejo traffic light. "Around 6:00 PM WIB, the witnesses then went to an empty food stall. Then the perpetrator and the victim, a busker, approached them to get acquainted and chat," he explained. The perpetrator then ordered the victim to buy alcohol to drink together. After that, an argument ensued, which led to a fight. "Unable to accept the victim's insults, the perpetrator struck the victim in the head with a sarong filled with stones. The victim ran into the bushes, where the perpetrator struck the victim again with stones, killing him. After confirming the victim's death, the perpetrator covered the body with grass and trash and fled on the victim's motorcycle," he explained. Budi added that the motive for the murder was a resentment he felt over the constant mocking and taunting from the victim. "For his actions, the suspect is charged with murder as referred to in Article 338 of the Indonesian Criminal Code, which carries a maximum sentence of 15 years in prison," he concluded.
