Weiler Plastic Surgery: • AlloClae 101 | Weiler Plastic Surgery The FDA part: AlloClae is regulated by the FDA, but not the way drugs and medical devices are. It falls under a category called 361 HCT/P, which is for human tissue products. That category only requires the tissue to be screened for disease and processed safely. It does not require clinical trials proving the product is safe or effective for the specific way it is being used now. That pathway was built for reconstructive use, replacing tissue that was lost or damaged one time. It was never designed for repeated elective cosmetic use every few months for years. So the tissue passed a cleanliness and safety screening. It never passed a test proving long term safety or effectiveness for the way most people are actually using it today. Why it matters: When a product is regulated this loosely, "FDA regulated" sounds reassuring but it does not mean what most people assume it means. It does not mean someone proved this is safe for years of repeated cosmetic use. It just means the tissue itself was processed under existing donation standards. Why you should research for yourself: The few extra minutes it takes to understand what a regulatory classification actually covers can be the difference between an informed decision and an assumption that turned out to be wrong. If there is anything else I may have missed, please leave it in the comments.
