BROTHERS AT WAR | The Battle of Tinchebray (1106) | Historical Ballads
In 1106, forty years after the Norman Conquest, the fate of England and Normandy would once again be decided on the battlefield—not by Saxons and Normans, but by the sons of the Conqueror himself. Following the death of William the Conqueror in 1087, his empire was divided among his sons. Robert Curthose inherited Normandy, while Henry I eventually claimed the English throne. For years the brothers contested their father's legacy until, on 28 September 1106, their armies met near the Castle of Tinchebray in Normandy. The Battle of Tinchebray ended with a decisive victory for Henry I. Robert Curthose was captured and would spend the remainder of his life in captivity. With this triumph, Henry reunited England and Normandy under a single ruler, completing the work begun by his father at Hastings in 1066 and establishing one of the most powerful Anglo-Norman kingdoms in medieval Europe. This historical ballad tells the story of ambition, loyalty, betrayal and destiny—a civil war that ended one chapter of the Norman Conquest and began another. Featuring cinematic orchestration, authentic medieval atmosphere and historically accurate storytelling, this episode of Historical Ballads brings one of England's greatest forgotten battles back to life. #HistoricalBallads #BattleOfTinchebray #Tinchebray1106 #HenryI #RobertCurthose #WilliamTheConqueror #NormanHistory #MedievalHistory #EnglandHistory #Normandy #CivilWar #EpicBallad #HistoricalMusic #MedievalMusic #CinematicHistory
