Silvia Abril: "Hacer 'La niña de Shrek' con 54 años, ¿en serio?"

Silvia Abril needs little introduction. She's an actress, presenter, comedian, writer... But above all, she's 'The Shrek Girl.' A character she created on Homo Zapping, and who, 20 years later, is still alive. "Every time I see her, I don't recognize her. It's like... who is that creature?" she confesses, laughing. But the truth is that this girl, born from improvisation, has become her clown, her freest alter ego. "She goes it alone, without a script," she says, referring to the sketches she's starred in on the show Futuro Imperfecto. "When Andreu suggested I do 'The Shrek Girl' again, I said: 'Really? At 54?'" Silvia Abril hasn't stopped being a child, nor does she want to. That little girl who played in the fields, built forts, and ran across the countryside with her dog Tula, lives on every time she steps onto a stage. “I think the day I lose that childlike quality, I can retire,” she confesses.
