My Marriage Stand: Part 2 - What God Did With the Wreckage

Tim had moved out. He was telling me he never loved me. He was done. And God used that year to completely gut me. This is Part 2 of my full marriage restoration story. If you haven't heard Part 1, go back and start there. You need the context. When we left off, Tim had left, I was at the house with the boys, and I had no idea what was about to happen to me. What happened was the hardest and the best year of my life. Here's the thing nobody tells you about a separation like that: your husband being gone is not the real surgery. The real surgery is when the Holy Spirit finally gets access to the parts of you that you have been protecting for years. And that is what happened to me. I had to face something I did not want to face. My marriage did not fall apart only because my husband failed me. It fell apart because of half me. And the moment I stopped pointing at his wretchedness and started looking at my own, everything started to shift. That year, I learned to fast. I learned to war in the spirit. I read Daniel for the first time and went to my parents and said, "What is this? How am I 26 years old and have never heard about this?" There is a literal battle happening in the spirit, and I had been completely asleep to it. God also asked me to quit my job. And when He called it what it was, I could not argue. I had put my marriage, my children, and my own soul on the altar of my career for years. That altar was a lie. It never delivered what it promised. Quitting was the easiest letter I ever wrote, because when the Lord moves on you and you step into obedience, you taste freedom. And that freedom becomes addictive in the best way possible!
