Waitawheta Hut | solo overnight hike | Kaimai Ranges, New Zealand

A hike to the Waitawheta Hut via Waitawheta Tramway is a great solo or family trail in the Central North Island of New Zealand. The track can be challenging in length but is mostly flat and follows the stunning river. There is one normal river crossing and one crossing that I needed to do at the time of this video due to a damaged bridge - be prepared to turn back if this river is flowing fast after heavy rain until the bridge is reopened.
