The #StrażwTerenie (Firefighters Off-Road) training was organized by the National Volunteer Fire Departments Agreement Foundation (Fundacja OP OSP). In May, GAZMAN conducted both theoretical and practical training for firefighters from the northern part of the Podlaskie Voivodeship, focusing on safe off-road driving of fire engines. Despite the demanding conditions of loose sand and gravel, the firefighters demonstrated outstanding initiative and impressive driving skills. Participants made excellent decisions regarding terrain assessment, route selection, teamwork, obstacle negotiation, and winch operations—skills that are essential during emergency incidents where firefighters must operate in all types of terrain. Throughout the training, all firefighters remained fully available for emergency response. The training took place in Augustów, Poland, where the surrounding forests and sandy roads closely resemble the environments firefighters often encounter during rescue and wildfire operations. Many participants were involved in extinguishing the 2025 Biebrza National Park wildfire, emphasizing how crucial off-road driving skills are for reaching emergency scenes safely and efficiently. The ability to operate fire engines on sand, forest tracks, and soft terrain can significantly affect response times and the effectiveness of rescue and firefighting operations.
