Its incredible location on the Baltic Sea, the Motława River, the wonderful Mariacka, Długa, and Piwna streets, as well as its centuries-old history, set it apart from other cities. Contemporary Gdańsk has also witnessed events that changed the course of history. It was in this city that World War II began, and forty years later, it was the place where communism in Eastern Europe began to crumble. Although its history has always been marked by tragedy and pain, Danzig and its inhabitants managed to recover from those difficult times, to the point that, to this day, this city shines with its own light.
