A Scenic Drive In The Rain Around NJ's Largest Lake

Come along for a virtual springtime drive in the rain viewing the winding, scenic roads which traverse the beautiful hills and mountains that circle New Jersey’s largest freshwater lake, Lake Hopatcong, all while listening to the rain falling on the windshield and roof of our car. At nine miles long and nearly 45 miles of coastline, Lake Hopatcong is shared by two counties (Sussex and Morris) and four boroughs and townships (Mount Arlington, Hopatcong, Jefferson Township, and Roxbury Township). In this relaxing road trip we’ll start at the southern end of the lake, in Morris County, traveling along Mount Arlington and Lakeside Boulevards in Landing (Roxbury Township). We then cross into Sussex County and the town of Hopatcong where we’ll drive along Lakeside Blvd, River Styx Road, Maxim Drive, Indian Trail and Lakeside Ave. We then cross back to Morris County into the Lake Hopatcong section of Jefferson Township where we’ll travel along Northwood and Prospect Point Roads, NJ Route 181 and Espanong Road. We continue into Mount Arlington on Howard Boulevard and Windermere Ave. We conclude back on Mount Arlington Boulevard in Landing (Roxbury Township).
