I Couldn’t Believe What The Glacier Did

A place I never expected to change… had completely disappeared. In this Alaska bush flying adventure, we depart Soldotna in the Super Cub and fly along the rugged coastline into one of Alaska’s most spectacular glacier-filled fjords. Towering mountains, floating ice, harbor seals, seabirds, and an enormous tidewater glacier make this one of the most breathtaking flights I’ve ever taken. The goal was simple: return to a remote beach I’ve landed on before. But when we arrived, the beach was gone. With only a small section of shoreline left, we carefully evaluate the conditions, make the landing, and explore one of the most incredible places in Alaska before making the flight home. It’s a powerful reminder that glaciers, tides, and rivers are constantly reshaping the landscape, and no backcountry landing is ever exactly the same twice.
