Icon Daesja Laperla Tribute | FQ Performance | Humansofballroom

In loving memory of Daesja Laperla “I didn’t understand vogue until I studied Daesja. Everything she did spoke to me. From her catwalk down to every element. What was so beautiful to me was the evolution of her performance, her musicality and creativity. The ability she had goes beyond what she did for Ballroom. It’s a testament to show she was here for so much more. Daesja will always be my greatest inspiration and the greatest to ever do it. Every time I step on the floor, it’s an ode to her and what she left in this world.” - @noellearchives “When I started ballroom I had a lot of rage within me. Then, I healed slightly, voguing began to set me free and was no longer an escape. I started watching Daesja and the way she moved her spoke to me on a different level beyond imaginable. I know longer had rage in me, it was more peaceful. She inspired me to slow down and capture the essence of my current story in an elegant, fluid, soft manner” @zerrrick HumansofBallroom is a space that unifies the community from all over the world through storytelling. As the community grows into different parts of the world and pop culture, It’s the stories and personal experiences that will ground Ballroom’s voice as One. It’s without a doubt how society gravely impacted the community through every systematic oppression created. As a result, the community does a lot of self-inflicting on themselves and each other. Ball culture is an escape. Oftentimes, Ballroom forgets all that they are escaping from. Humansofballroom exist to preserve the many intersectionalities within while shifting current narrative of ballroom. It exist to uphold the “soul” of the culture. To be viewed less as queer commodities. To add more empathy and be seen as who we are — human. Tiktok/Instagram/Twitter/Facebook - @humansofballroom
