Plain white vinegar. The old people kept it close at hand and put it to a dozen uses, and somewhere along the way most of us forgot how much one humble bottle can really do. Somewhere we got taught to buy a different special product for every little task, a bottle for the glass, a bottle for the drains, a bottle for the counters, a bottle for the pots, each one sold as the one thing that would do that one job.
