SEED STORIES | Walking Stick Kale: A Stand-Up Heirloom
COMING SOON TO RARESEEDS.COM: Walking Stick kale, also known as Cow Cabbage and Jersey Cabbage, is a unique variety bred for its strong, extra-long stems that can easily grow to over 10 feet tall! The history of this variety is inextricably linked to Jersey, in the Channel Islands, where generations of gardeners grew this variety for its leaves, which they used for animal fodder and table greens -- and its stalks, out of which they fashioned fencing, trellises, walking sticks -- and even rafters for small buildings! We expect to offer this variety in our 2020 catalog.
