Today, on "En Defensa" Propia, I had the honor of speaking with a woman who perfectly embodies the magic of life, in every possible sense. This is #DaniaDíaz, a #VenezuelanMagician who has managed to captivate the world with her stories told through magic. But beyond her talent on stage, Dania has such a powerful and moving personal story that it's impossible not to be inspired by listening to her. Our conversation began with the idea of ​​how fate sometimes seems to silently accompany us, guiding every step we take. And although Dania defines herself as self-made, listening to her makes it clear that this "something greater" has played an important role in her life. From a young age, Dania had an innate artistic inclination. She loved to dance, sing, recite poetry, and even imitated people she saw on television. However, the unexpected death of her mother when she was just 10 years old changed everything. It was a devastating blow that, as she says, marked her life forever. Dania told me that, after losing her mother, she stopped participating in artistic activities and began to retreat to her room. It was in that safe space that, for the first time, she saw a magician on television. Although the magician was a man, she, a girl, identified with the assistant and began to dream of performing magic. From then on, she began asking for magic kits as gifts and practiced constantly. However, during her teenage years, she put magic aside, thinking it was "something for boys." It was at age 18 that she took it up again, and that's when her journey truly began. Listening to her talk about her migration journey was deeply revealing. First, she emigrated to Colombia, then to Panama, and finally to Spain. Each stage was marked by economic challenges, adaptation processes, and the constant search for opportunities to continue doing what she loved: magic. Dania even rode buses to perform magic tricks, demonstrating impressive courage and determination. "If I could do magic on a bus, I could stand on any stage," she told me, and that phrase perfectly sums up the attitude with which she has faced her life. In Spain, Dania found her big break when she participated in Spain's Got Talent in 2018. In this audition, she decided not to perform just any trick, but to tell her own story through magic. She used cards to narrate significant moments in her life, including the red thread of destiny that connected her to her past, her family, and her country, Venezuela. This act not only moved the judges and the audience, but also marked a turning point in her career. Dania discovered the power of storytelling and how she could use magic as a vehicle to connect emotionally with people. At the end of our conversation, I asked her if she still believed in magic, despite knowing all the tricks. Her answer was beautiful: "I truly believe in magic because life itself is magical. There are things we can't explain, but if we learn to believe, to let ourselves go, and to connect, everything becomes more exciting, more vibrant." Dania Díaz is not only an incredible magician; She is a woman who, through her art, reminds us that we all have the ability to reinvent ourselves, to transform our stories, and to find magic even in the darkest moments. And that, for me, is the true definition of success.
