Na Ikhyeon speaks: Korean fugitive claims he paid P6M to escape BI custody | ABS-CBN News

South Korean fugitive Na Ikhyeon, since arrested again by authorities, managed to escape Bureau of Immigration (BI) custody with the help of another Korean and of immigration staff, he confirmed during a Senate panel's hearing on Tuesday (March 18). Attending the Senate's investigation into the escape of Alice Guo, Na said he paid P6 million to a certain Paul who claimed he was a high-ranking official of the Bureau of Immigration in Intramuros and his accomplice Raul. BI Commissioner Joel Viado said Na was attending a preliminary investigation at the Office of the City Prosecutor in Quezon City when he slipped away from authorities. Na, who is wanted for fraud in his home country, was found hiding in a residential area in Barangay Pampang in Angeles City, Pampanga. An accomplice, Kang Changbeom, was also arrested. During the hearing, Viado said they do not know of the alleged Paul and Raul. The bureau has already terminated the two job order employees and one immigration employee who were seen in CCTV videos accompanying Na, he added.
