The railway is located more than 10km into the mountains from the national highway, but there are plenty of trails to explore the surrounding area, and the roads and footpaths are well-maintained, making it a lovely walking trail. Being in the mountains, it was very quiet, and I was able to see the magnificent Kiso cypress trees! The river water was also very clear, so it would be great for summer as well.
