The artwork primarily depicts cattle in ceremonial robes, as well as humans, dogs, and giraffes, giving a glimpse into the lives and spiritual beliefs of the region’s prehistoric inhabitants. The site holds great cultural and historical significance, not only for Somaliland but also for the broader understanding of Neolithic societies in Africa. Despite its importance, Laas Geel remains relatively unknown on the global stage, largely due to its location and the region’s political situation.
