I Tried to Walk 3000km Across New Zealand (My First Ever Hike) | Te Araroa Trail Part 1

Hi, I’m John. This is my first ever hike. I’m attempting to walk the length of New Zealand along Te Araroa Trail which is about 3000km. This video covers the start. From home, to flying north, repacking my gear, watching “how to hike” videos, and then starting at Cape Reinga. I walk south to roughly the Far North / Whangārei boundary (around 280km in). On the way: Ninety Mile Beach Raetea Forest Puketi Forest Waitangi Treaty Grounds Kayaking the Waikare Inlet Walking into “The Farm” Yep, I took a couple short rides (Ahipara to Kaitaia, Kerikeri to Paihia) because my knees were cooked most of the time from never walking more than 9km in a day, then asking my body for 28km by day 2. Welcome to my day to day on New Zealand's long trail, Te Araroa! #teararoa #newzealandhiking #thruhike #backpackingNZ #hiking
