The documentary "I Wanted to See the Sun One More Time" is the third and final film in a series of three eyewitness portraits of individuals during the Nazi era, each focusing on a different life story. This film portrait centers on Erna de Vries, born in 1923. In the summer of 1943, she was deported to the Auschwitz extermination camp as a Jew and ultimately placed on death row. Her last wish was to see the sun one more time. The 2008 film portrait, based on an interview, tells Erna de Vries's moving story: how she escaped gassing in Auschwitz, survived the war and persecution, and later shared her experiences as a witness to history.
