BMW gets RAMMED by Alto PD while trying to flee from Cherokee County Sheriff in High-Speed Chase!

RUSK, Texas — Alto Police have released new details about a high-speed pursuit Monday that damaged multiple patrol units and posed a danger to motorists. The pursuit began when law enforcement attempted to initiate a traffic stop on a BMW in Wells. The driver reportedly failed to comply, and drove away from officers. An Alto Police officer, recognizing the danger of allowing the vehicle to re-enter Hwy. 69 and the present risk to the public, positioned his patrol unit in the path of the suspect vehicle, Alto Police Department said. The vehicles collided on Nottingham St. and Dickinson Drive around 7:56 p.m., ending the pursuit. "The driver of the BMW refused to exit the vehicle but was quickly taken into custody by officers on scene," a spokesperson for Alto Police said. "Officers rendered first aid to the suspect until emergency medical services arrived." Alto PD spokesperson Parker Sweeney identified the driver as 37-year-old Jonas Luna. Cherokee County Sheriff Brent Dickson said the pursuit reportedly reached speeds between 112 and 125 miles per hour. All involved officers and the suspect were evaluated by medical personnel. Luna was transported to a local hospital and later cleared by medical staff before being transported to Cherokee County Jail and placed under arrest. An investigation into the incident remains ongoing.
