Windsurfing Waterstarts

A windsurfing water start can be tough, the board keeps wanting to head up wind, the sail keeps filling with water from the wind and waves, recovering the rig has been the hardest part for me, then once you get the sail flying, timing the lift up on to the board and not getting tossed to the other side is tricky. But when you finally catch the right gust, lift the sail cleanly, and rise onto the board, it’s a huge win that makes all the effort worth it. Join me on my hard fought second water start, and then my fourth ad fifth that went much smoother. The first one in the video is in Avon NC and it was a hard one, the other two are at Gunpowder Falls park in MD and went much smoother. Maybe you will find some clues to help with your water starts, If you can get the boom over the tail of the board that helps a lot to clear the water out of the sail. As I am uploading this video I completed my 6th yesterday and it was as hard as my second, I guess it will take a bit more time to get them dialed in more. I’m sharing these sessions to help other windsurfers see what the spot delivers and to connect with riders who enjoy fun on the fin. Subscribe if you want enjoy the ride with more videos on windsurfing sessions from around Maryland and beyond. See you on the next windy day. 🌬️🏄‍♂️
