Rechter verklaart voetbalclub WKE uit Emmen failliet

Football club WKE from Emmen has gone bankrupt. The court in Assen declared the bankruptcy this afternoon following a petition filed by the Dutch Tax and Customs Administration. A month ago, the then-board of the Emmer Topklasser wanted to file for bankruptcy themselves due to mounting debts. The board then resigned, but then Tjeerd Boonstra stepped in as the new chairman. He saw potential for the club, so the bankruptcy petition was shelved. Now, the club has been declared bankrupt after all.
