The Ryabushinsky Mansion, the Derozhinskaya Mansion, the Savva Morozov House, the Yaroslavsky Station building, the A.P. Chekhov Moscow Art Theater, Ryabushinsky's "Utro Rossii" Printing House, the P.M. Ryabushinsky Partnership Bank, the Moscow Merchant Society House, the Yermolaevsky Lane Mansion—all these Moscow buildings were designed by the renowned Russian architect Fyodor Osipovich Schechtel (Franz-Albert Schechtel). He was one of the founders of a new architectural language and a prominent representative of Russian Art Nouveau. His approach to his work was unique—Schekhtel acted as both an architect and a director, equating movement within the space with movement in a theater.
