Hard Spring Day of a Mom and Son in a Remote Village! Planting Corn and Ancient Discovery!

Today, mom Nadiya and her son Serhiy are sharing another authentic and busy spring day filled with heavy work on the land, family traditions, and warm moments of countryside living. The morning begins in the warm village kitchen, where Serhiy is baking fresh, crispy waffles, accompanied by our ginger cat who loves checking on the cooking. After a quick tea, the real work starts. Mom Nadiya plants her favorite spring flowers around the yard, bringing life and color to the old house. Then, we head together to our large field to plant corn. This corn is vital for our farm, as it will feed our cow, the young bull, the rabbits, and the chickens through the coming seasons. While hoeing the soil on the old garden beds, mom Nadiya makes a remarkable find—fragments of ancient clay pottery. Decades ago, a traditional pottery workshop operated on this very land, crafting beautiful handmade dishes. Although the workshop closed down more than 60 years ago, pieces of this local history are still hidden in the ground, waiting to be found. Later in the day, our work splits. Serhiy continues building a beautiful outdoor recreation area, carefully laying heavy stone slabs to create a permanent walkway. He is building this path right near the house of their ancestors, on the historic land where their grandmothers lived over 60 years ago, preserving the roots of the family. At the same time, mom Nadiya is inside preparing a classic village dinner—juicy pork chops baked with a thick layer of melted homemade cheese. The long day draws to a close with evening farm chores. Serhiy feeds the cow and the young bull with freshly ground wheat, while mom plants the final batch of planned flowers into a beautiful new flowerbed, built right alongside Serhiy's new stone walkway.
