03/24/15: Mitral Valve Prolapse - An Athlete's Heart

I was recently diagnosed with MVP. It was an epiphany for me as it became clear where my years of symptoms that I had experienced were not "in my head" but rather caused by an underlying issue with my mitral valve. Although It's still a condition that needs to be addressed, at least I know what has been the cause of all of my symptoms. • Pre Ventricular Contractions (PVS's) • Atrial Fibulation • Dizziness, Lightheadedness • Cold extremities (cold feet and hands) • Anxiety • Short of Breath • Tightness in Chest • Strong Aversion to Smells • Headaches Prior to my diagnosis, it was unclear what was the cause, and the doctors had attributed my symptoms to GAD, General Anxiety Disorder. Now that I know what is wrong, I can focus on ways to help manage it, and as an athlete I can now seek out ways to maintain the quality of life that I desire. I hope that sharing this video and future videos to come will offer some support and comfort to those who are also suffering from this disorder.
