Every year best 1,000 kids will be given an annual scholarship of ₹5 lakh (US$6,300) for 8 years to prepare them for the international sporting events. The 5th edition of the Khelo India Youth Games culminated on February 11, 2023. Maharashtra finished at the top of the points table, with a total of 161 medals, whereas Haryana came second with 128 medals. With 96 medals MP was the distant third in the race. The last edition of the KIYG, Khelo India Youth Games 2021, was postponed thrice due to COVID-19 before finally being held in June last year.
