ALIMENTATION : TOUT EST FAIT POUR VOUS FAIRE CHOISIR DES PRODUITS MAUVAIS POUR LA SANTÉ

Support Blast, a new independent media outlet: https://www.blast-info.fr/soutenir Who can afford to eat well today? In France, millions of people don't have enough to eat or have a diet that is unbalanced and harmful to their health. Despite the stabilization of inflation, prices remain too high for the vast majority of French people, impacting their purchasing decisions: fewer fresh products, fruits, and vegetables. Constrained in their food choices, people living in precarious situations are also "the first victims of diseases linked to poor diet." A third of the French population's daily caloric intake comes from ultra-processed foods. And all of this isn't the consumers' fault, as we often hear… "Everything is organized so that consumers choose products that are bad for their health," denounces Karine Jacquemart, director of Foodwatch France, in her book "The Dangers of Food." In it, she offers an analysis of the failings of our agri-food system, a system riddled with private interests at the expense of our health and natural ecosystems. Karine Jacquemart also calls for collective action and resistance to reclaim control over our food and, therefore, our lives. At a time when, according to Secours Populaire (a French charity), one in three French people is not always able to afford enough healthy food to eat three meals a day, and one in five students relies on food aid, and one in five farmers lives below the poverty line, Karine Jacquemart reminds us that access to healthy, dignified, and high-quality food is a fundamental right, yet it is not sufficiently guaranteed in France today. Meanwhile, the agri-food industry has seen its profits double amidst inflation. Scandals are recurring and similar, demonstrating just how crucial food is as a political issue for our present and future. So how do we regain control over our food? How do we unlock the agri-food system and provide access to healthy food, chosen and produced with respect for ecosystems?
