We are heading deep into the heart of Oman's wild desert—the spectacular Wahiba Sands (Wahiba Dunes)! After an entertaining road trip from Muscat where we tried explaining to our local driver why Delhi's Rajouri Garden has better valleys than Oman, we finally arrived at the last desert outpost of Bidiyah. We checked into a gorgeous, secluded luxury desert camp nestled right between massive orange sand dunes. But we didn't stay in our tents for long because it was time for extreme dune bashing! Flying up and down vertical walls of shifting sand in a 4x4 was an absolute rollercoaster—honestly, at one point, it got so terrifyingly steep I had to remind everyone that my mom was waiting for me back in India! After surviving the high-adrenaline ride, we watched an unforgettable, empty desert sunset where the sun and moon were both visible at the exact same time. The real shock came at dinner when I decided to try real camel meat for the first time in my life! It was a complete food shock—the meat was incredibly tough, super hard to chew, and nothing like chicken or mutton. We wrapped up the freezing desert night walking under the massive moonlit sky.
