I've finally managed to put together a run that beats the previous world record, although, in true Clouder fashion, I only did it by less than a second. The main reason I decided to return to this game was a bounty put up by the current WR holder: roughly $400 for anyone who could take down the record. Needless to say, I couldn't let an opportunity like that pass me by. So, a couple of months ago, I set out on the grind. And honestly? Quake 2 is so much more enjoyable to run than Quake 1, largely because it doesn't force you to stay within the constraints of single-segment gameplay. The routing is more flexible, the practice is more focused, and the whole process just feels a lot more rewarding. That extra motivation definitely helped along the way. For most of the grind, I was streaming and practicing almost every single day, steadily chipping away at the record until everything finally came together.
