Thank you, Gordon Goodwin.

This video is a personal tribute to Gordon Goodwin — composer, bandleader, and one of the most influential musical voices of our time. Gordon’s music didn’t just change big band writing — it shaped lives. From family car journeys filled with Count Bubba and A Few Good Men, to discovering Wayne Bergeron for the first time, to eventually having the privilege of playing in the Big Phat Band, his work became a constant presence throughout my life and the lives of so many musicians in my generation. In this video, I share a few stories of how Gordon’s music found its way into my family, my musical upbringing, and ultimately my professional life — along with a small performance in his honour. More than anything, this is simply an expression of gratitude. Gordon bridged the worlds of big band, film music, and modern sound in a way no one else did. He made the music exciting, relevant, and inspiring for generations of players around the world. My thoughts and prayers are with Vangie, his family, and everyone who was touched by his music. Thank you, Gordon. We’ll do our best to carry on what you started.
