Democritus and Leucippus | The Atomists of Presocratics Philosophy

In Presocratics philosophy, Democritus and Leucippus are the founders of the Ancient Atomism school of Ancient Greek philosophy. There is some debate as to whether Leucippus even existed or whether Democritus of Abdera is the only founder of this Presocratic philosophy school but whatever the historical reality there is a potency to the school of Ancient Atomism whereby their worldview is closer to the modern scientific outlook than any other among the ancients. Democritus tells us that sweetness bitterness and warmth are all conventions and that the reality is atoms and void. The Democritus atomic theory is not so impressive as the nature of it -- unlike the similar systems of Empedocles and Anaxagoras, the atomic theory of Democritus and Leucippus is devoid of projections of human qualities.
