June 2026 The History of Water Rights and the Public Trust at Mono Lake
Presented by Marc Del Piero Marc ran the lengthy State Water Resources Control Board hearing that led, in 1994, to the decision to save Mono Lake. The hearing was a first-of-its-kind effort to identify and protect Mono Lake’s Public Trust values. Marc will explain the 19th century establishment of water rights, historic efforts to protect Mono Lake, and today’s remaining concerns.
